Santa Clara County

The Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) is actively recruiting Resource (foster) families who can provide a stable and loving home for children/youth of all ages. There is an urgent need for families who are willing and motivated to care for children/youth with special needs, teens, LGBTQIA+, and sibling groups. DFCS believes in working side by side with resource families in caring for children/youth in foster care. We do this so that resource families and the children/youth in their care will thrive and be successful.

We know all children/youth do better in families. We need your support in helping children/youth transition from therapeutic treatment programs to a family setting.

Santa Clara County Foster Family Agency Recruitment Collaborative

We strive to provide every youth in foster care an opportunity to reach their full potential. Through collaborative recruitment efforts, we aim to increase the number of Trauma Informed Resource Families in Santa Clara County that support reunification and other permanency options. We collaborate our efforts in recruitment, education, marketing and communication to ensure that no potential Resource Parents are lost due to insufficient information and lack of responsiveness. We want to ensure all potential families are offered a choice in agency that best meets their needs.

In addition to approving and supporting resource families, some Foster Family Agencies (FFAs) approve and support resource families to provide therapeutic services and care for children and youth with higher behavioral or mental health needs in placement through the following programs and services (additional training and requirements):

  • Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC)
  • Professional Parent homes (PP)
  • Treatment Foster Care (TFC) services
  • Resource Family Approval Program (RFA)
  • Adoption

Please contact any of the Foster Family Agencies below for more information.
